Ephraim Beasley 1798 Will

Of Berkeley Parish, Spotsylvania County, Virginia

In the name of God Amen I Ephraim Beazley of the county of Spotsylvania and parish of Berkeley being in perfect health and _____ do constitute and ordain this my last will and testament, as follows to wit.

Firstly I give to my loving wife Winnie Beasley all my estate both real and personal, during her natural life or widowhood except five negroes which I shall dispose of in the following manner to it, I give to my daughter Anna a negro girl named Mary to Elizabeth, Francis to Sarah, Robert to Nancy, Lucy and to Mary, James. All of which I give extraordinarily, as over and above what they will hereafter have at the general division.

Secondly, and at the decease of my loving wife, I give to my son Charles my present dwelling house and all the land at the South edge of Stony River extraordinary. As to the remainder of my estate will be on personal is my will and desire that if he equally divided amongst my children, namely William, Ephraim, Henry, Charles, Anna, Elizabeth, Sarah, Nancy, and Mary.

Thirdly, in order to make an equal division as possible, my will & desire is that my Estate both real and personal be sold by my hereafter named executor, and the monies arising from such sale, to be equally divided, giving full power to my executor to dispose of my land and whatever else I may be so blessed of by virtue to the best advantage for the benefit of my children.

Forthly, that it may be more convenient for my daughters it is my will and desire that they should if they choose live at the place which I now live during the time they may be single.

Fifthly, my will and desire is that my son Ephraim have an equal part and no more of my estate and William to be maintained out of my estate.

Sixthly, I constitute and appoint my sons William and lastly Ephraim Beazley Executors of this my last Will and Testament revoking and making void all other wills and testaments made. Given under my hand & seal this seventh day of December one thousand seven hundred and ninety eight.
