The key locations that pioneer members of our ancestors occupied in England and the Colonies are significant to our history. George and William Phelps of what was originally believed to be Tewkesbury, but was later confirmed to be Crewkerne, England settled in Dorchester (later Windsor), Massachusetts in the early 1630's.
The Phelps family later moved with their church brethren to a nearby settlement, first called Massaco (later renamed Simsbury).
See the biographies of the Phelps family for information on some of the more prominent members of the family.
During the Civil War, some of our ancestors lived among the battlefields themselves.
