[3149] Capt. Phelps settled in Turkey Hills, inSimsbury, Ct. He was a soldier in the Revolutionary war. His name is found many times in manuscript volumes in the state archives. He appears in state record of "Conn. Men in the Revolution," in 1776, in Woodward's Brigade as Lieut. in 2nd Company, also as Lieut. in pay roll in Danbury Alarm, and also in the New Haven Alarm, in Capt. Noah Phelps's Co. in 1779. The descendants of Capt. Phelps have his original appointment as Capt. in the Revolutionary army. He died 17 Apr., 1811, in his 78th year. He m. for 2nd wife, Hannah Humphrey. By her he had no issue. After Mr. Phelps's death she lived with her son Frederick Humphrey, in Albany, N. Y., where she died.

[4517] Connecticut-born Alexander and Elizabeth (Eno) Phelps decided to try their luck in Michigan, and moved their family to Scio Township, Washtenaw County in 1831. Son Amos, born in 1824, caught gold fever and headed for California in 1851. He stuck it out for three years, then returned home, not much better off than when he had started, to marry his long-suffering fiancee, Elizabeth Pacey. Pacey, the daughter of English immigrants Edward and Hannah (Swales) Pacey, was born in Dexter, Michigan in 1832. The Phelpses spent their entire married life on a Scio Township farm, where they raised four children. Amos died in 1879, Elizabeth in 1891. Adaline, a daughter of Alexander and Elizabeth Phelps, married Phineas Lyon, Jr. in June, 1846 and moved to his farm in Oakland County. -- from https://www.clements.umich.edu/Webguides/NP/Phelps.html
