We only have information on one daughter and four sons. In the 1840 census, Ferdinand is listed in Hamiltion, Fauquier Co., Virginia with the following persons living: 1 male child 10-15 2 male children 15-20 1 male child 20-30 1 male adult 40-50 1 female child 15-20 1 female adult 40-50 1 female adult 60-70 The slaves listed are: 2 female 10-24 Three persons are engaged in agriculture. A pensioner of the Revoluationary War or military service is Amey Clagget age 68, his mother. She is drawing a pension for her husband, Dr. Samuel Claggett. In 1860 Ferdinand was living next door to his son Isaac. In 1870 he's missing from the census.
[8232] Emigrated from Virginia to Ohio and on to Indiana in about the year 1843. We have no further record of him or his family.
[8233] Emigrated from Virginia to Ohio and resided with her brother, William, and his family unti she passed away. The dates of her birth and death have not been ascertained. She never married.
[8231] In 1836 he emigrated to Uniontown, Pa, and took up the trade of furniture making. He and his son, established one of the most enterprising furniture houses in Western Pennsylvania under the firm name of T. J. & C. Claggett, in Uniontown, Pa.
[8038] An alternative birth date is listed as December 25, 1809. William was a shoemaker by trade and in 1843 bought a farm in Perry Township, Licking County, Ohio and was very successful, securing for himself and his family a comfortable home. He and his wife were members of the Old School Baptist Church at Pleasant Hill, located near their farm.
