[6651] All of the data on the descendants of Robert and Harriet Moore Phelps is courtesy of Wendy Herne of New South Wales, Australia. Robert Phelps birth is based on the assumption that the Robert Phelps in the IGI 'born about 1756' is the same person as the grandson Robert Phelps b.1753. Although he is called Robert Phelps of Stretton Grandison by the IGI this may be because he lived there and he was actually born in Tewkesbury. Stretton Grandison is Anne Homes' home town and that is where the Ledbury link occurs. Stretton Grandison is close to Ledbury. In 1833 Robert Phelps (b.1790) was left the majority of the Smithsend estate by a cousin Elizabeth Smithsend. This is very strong evidence that he is a direct descendent of Hester Smithsend and Edward Phelps as he is probably being left the estate as the closest male relative. There are no male Smithsends in Elizabeth's branch of the family.

[11458] While researching the families at the Mead Library in Sheboygan, WI inthe LDS CD Rom computer files, I found Peter and his wife listed asparents of John Terlinden, Sr. (Found this 7/24/96) Peter was 56 years old when he died. Most or all of their 7 childrencame to America. According to Loraine Stindt, he actually had 11 children. It could bethat, for example, Gerard died shortly after birth and later they hadanother child which they named Gerhard and the first Jacob died shortlyafter birth and later they had another child which they named Jacob, etc. A lot of information on this family is still missing yet.

[11459] Catherina was 88 1/2 years old when she died.

[11460] Gerhard signed his father's death record in 1847.

[11461] NOTE: The Civil records of 1808-1813 are in French with the fill-ins inGerman. The family lived in/at Rumelin but the church they attended wasusually listed as Hochfeld. The earlier ones, Freimersheim andKaldenhausen, in addition to others are listed in the same record bookfor birth, etc. The Civil records list Rumelein as the place ofresidence. Jacob and Catherine came to America shortly after their wedding (this wastold by the family). His citizenship application, however, lists himcoming in November of 1847 but Loraine doubts that he came and thenreturned to be married in August of 1848. Citiz. Vol A-P230-Cert #1093. Jacob and Catherine's marriage record says that Jacob is a blacksmith. The Plat book of 1874 lists Jacob as owning land in Section 17 of Town ofAuburn, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin and 1848 from Germany. The PlatBook of 1893 shows Peter Terlinden as owning that land.

[11462] Sophia immigrated about 1850 sometime before her son was born. After herhusband, Gerhard died she stayed living on their farm.

[11399] Washington County, WI death certificate. Volume 2, Page 253. John was a blacksmith by trade. John was best man for Jacob Terlinden. On the marriage certificate inGermany it was mentioned that their father, Peter was no longer livingand their mother could not read or write. John was also the only onethat signed his name in English letters, the rest was all German script. He must have been practicing to come to the United States which he didn'tachieve until two years later. John's father is listed as Peter"Kleinterlinden". (Klein in German means tiny). Klein or tiny goes wayback to the early 1700's. Eichloch was under French rule then and thebirth record is in French. John Terlinden's application for citizenship- Oath was Oct 25, 1852 -Court #1418-Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. It listsarrival date of Oct 1851 to New York. Witnesses were Wm. Scheid and JohnRohrer. Final date of papers listed as Dec 15, 1858-Vol.A P 285. Johndied in the home of his son-in-law, Wm. Backhaus. Between 1860 and 1863John moved from Ashford to Wayne. According to Loraine Stindt there were lots of land sales between John &Catherine with the Scheid's and the Terlinden's.

[11463] Catherine immigrated approximately 1850
