[46] According to the 1880 Census, an aunt, Sarah N. Johnson, is living with the family. Obituary: Catherine Johnson was born in Fauquier Co., Va., about 1815, and she was married to James A. Claggett in 1846. They moved west and reached Lexington on Christmas Day, 1866, where they settled on a farm. In June, 1886, they moved into town, where Mr. Claggett died August, 1887. Since that time she has lived with her daughter, Mrs. Luther Beasley. Mrs. Claggett was an excellent old woman and her life was one of great usefulness. Some of the Claggett family were members of the Old School Baptist church and she was in sympathy with that body of christians. She leaves to mourn her one daughter, Mrs. Luther Beasley and two sons, J. W. and R. T. Claggett, of this town, with nine grandchildren and a large circle of friends. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Stubbert. The remains were laid to rest in the Lexington cemetery. -- March 16, 1900
