[9848] Obituary Louisa Burgess was born January 19, 1860, at Sullivan. Pa., and died at Vinton September 8, 1900. In early childhood she came to Vinton where she has since resided. She was married June 3rd, 1878, to William T. Phelps, who with four children is left to mourn her departure. Frank, the oldest, resides in Rock Island, Ill., and visited at his mother's beside last week; the other three children are still at home. She also leaves a father, four sisters and one brother. One sister, who lives in Vinton, faithfully nursed her through the last weeks of her illness. Mrs. Phelps had suffered long and patiently but through it all her faith in Christ sustained her. At the age of 15 she united with the Disciples church, and after that church organization disbanded in 1888 she united with the Presbyterian church of Vinton, of which branch of the church of Christ she was a faithful and consistent member to the day of her death. The funeral services were held at the residence Sunday afternoon at 3:30, conducted by her pastor, Rev. S. S. Hilscher.
