[9597] OBITUARY: Graves Sledd Dies Of Heart Attack Late Tuesday Graves Sledd, member of one of Murray's most prominent families, died suddenly Tuesday night about 11:30 o'clock at his home in South Sixth Street. His death, attributed to a heart attack, stunned his many friends and business associates throughout the county, Mr. Sledd, 53 years of age, son of the late Taz and Mrs. Eula Graves Sledd, had been ill since Sunday with a cold and his condition was not considered serious. It was not generally known that he had a heart disorder. For the last 28 years, Mr. Sledd has been employed with the Murray Wholesale Grocery Company in in the office. Prior to that he was a mail clerk on the N. C. & S L Railroad. He was married to Miss Lourel Bourland 17 years ago and he and his wife have worked together many years in the same office. He was a sports enthusiast and was one of the college team's most staunch rooters. Many friends join Mrs. Sledd in her grief. Besides his widow he leaves two brothers Postmaster Harry I. Sledd and Deputy Sheriff T. Sledd. Mrs. Ed Diuguid, Jr., is an only sister and Mrs. Madge Patterson Parker and Gene Patterson are a niece and nephew. Last rites were said at the First Baptist Church Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock by the Rev. H. C. Chiles officiating. Internmerit was in the city cemetery. Out of town rnembers of the immediate family who were here for the funeral were Mrs. Sledd's mother and sister Miss Margie Bourland and brother Dr. Leon Bourland and family of Memphis & and another sister Mrs. Pauline Dorris and family of Springfield, Tenn.
