[1097] Edward is the son of Richard Clagett Sr. of Croom and his wife Deborah Dorsey. Richard Clagett Sr. deeded to hs son, Edward, n l732 a large tract of land, being part of his extensive estate called "Croom". In July 1755, Edward Clagett and his wife Eleanor deeded to their son, John Clagett, a large portion the Croom property just prior to the marriage of the young man. In l756 Eleanor and Edward Clagett sold to John Bowie, Sr., another large part of the Croom porperty, and this was a few years later devised by John Bowie to the younger children of his daughter.
[94] In 1750, the Maryland Assembly voted funds to enlarge and repair Christ Church in William and Mary Parish (in what is now Wayside, Maryland), under the direction of its rector, The Rev. Samuel Clagett.
