George Christian Diuguid of Kentucky
|Bessie Roberts Diuguid, b. 11 Oct 1876 in Paducah, Kentucky.|
George married Annie Nancy Roberts daughter of L. D. Roberts and Mrs. Roberts, on 17 Nov 1875 in McCracken, Kentucky. Annie was born on 28 Jan 1854 in Paducah, McCracken, Kentucky. She died on 9 Nov 1929.
Bessie Diuguid was George's daughter and my great-grandmother. She married Guy Herbert "Bert" Christy, who was a blacksmith. As autos became more popular, he obtained training as a welder in early 1917 at the Heald School in San Francisco at Sutter and Larkin. In October 1918, the family was living in the Glasgow Apartments at Turk and Larkin Streets in San Francisco. By 1920, Guy was an instructor in welding at Heald, and in 1921 he was head of the welding department. There is a longer story about Bessie, Guy, and the Mystery of Brigadier General Henry Haskell.
In June, 1941, Bessie lived with her daughter Anita May in Little Rock, Arkansas. Bessie died in Oakland, California on 9 Mar 1947. Her death certificate gives her last address as 1574 -78th Ave., Oakland. Guy followed her less than 10 months later in November of the same year. They are buried at Cypress Lawn Cemetery in Colma, California.
After Guy died, the family expected to find some money hidden in the house. Her daughter Anna Elizabeth "Betty" Christy and her husband Bart Phelps looked throughout the house several times without any results. Shortly afterwards, Betty had a dream and told Bart to look in the heater compartment over the top of the door. There they found $1500 in an envelope.
